Average and peak, the two numbers that disagree

140 desks, 84 in on an average day and 126 on the busiest: 60% average utilization and 90% at peak. A floor that reads half empty on average is nearly full on its busiest day, and the busiest day is the one that decides whether a floor can go.

Desks needed, desks spare

The busiest day needs 126 desks, so 14 of the 140 are spare. That is the honest surplus: the desks that could be released without anyone standing on the busiest day, at this attendance pattern and before any policy changes it.

The sharing ratio the attendance supports

126 people at peak from 180 assigned is 7 desks per 10 people. That ratio, fed into the office space per person worksheet, is what turns a measured attendance into a space requirement, and the return to office policy template is what tests it against the days the policy will require.
